The company said the first two LNGCs will be built by the South Korean shipyard HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI), on behalf of a European shipowner.

These vessels will each have a cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be equipped with the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT.

The deliveries of the vessels are scheduled for the first and fourth quarters of 2030.

The third LNGC will be built by the South Korean shipyard Hanwha Ocean, on behalf of an Asian shipowner, GTT informed.

This vessel will have a cargo capacity of 174,000 m3 and will be fitted with the NO96 GW membrane containment system.

The delivery of this vessel is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

To remind, in October 2023, on behalf of Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, HD HHI placed an order at GTT for the design of the cryogenic fuel tanks of five large LNG-fueled containerships.

According to GTT, that was “the first time that a Chinese shipowner has opted for LNG propulsion technology for its containerships.”
