Greece to Get First Offshore Wind Farm

Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) has approved a production licence for a EUR 2 billion offshore wind project.

Namely, the application for installing 81 wind turbines in the Aegean Sea northeast of Lemons Island was submitted by RF Energy’s subsidiary City Electric S.A., the AMNA news site reports.

This 498.15 MW offshore wind farm will provide electricity for approximately 500,000 homes by producing 1,692.3GWh annually. Once connected to the national grid, the project will be significant for reaching the national 2020 Renewable Energy Sources (RES) goals.
