Global Wind Service Picks Up Where Total Wind Left Off

Business & Finance

Denmark-based Global Wind Service (GWS) has acquired all offshore and blade activities from the bankrupt compatriot Total Wind A/S.

With this acquisition, GWS has taken over several ongoing offshore wind projects in Denmark and in Europe including customer contracts and employees.

The main activities acquired include service works for Vattenfall on the Horns Rev I wind farm, installation and completion services for MHI Vestas Offshore Wind on the Horns Rev III wind farm, and pre-assembly activities for MHI Vestas at the Port of Esbjerg.

“MHI Vestas has worked with Global Wind Service on a number of successful projects,” said Flemming Ougaard, Chief Operations Officer at MHI Vestas Offshore Wind.

“The fact that they can step in here in these testing times and ensure continuity of service and project delivery is very important to MHI Vestas.”

The activities also include various blade repair projects in Europe, GWS said.

“Despite the unfortunate circumstances for Total Wind A/S, we are pleased to announce, that GWS has been able to step in and secure the jobs of more than 150 Total Wind employees,” Lars Bo Petersen, CEO of GWS said.
