Global Wind Service Marks Ten Years in Business

Business & Finance

On 4 January, Global Wind Service (GWS) celebrated ten years since it was founded. The company, now employing 600 people, worked on over 300 projects in 35 countries and has local business units in ten countries.

Commenting on the ten-year anniversary, Lars Petersen, CEO of GWS said: “We founded GWS in Michael’s apartment with the belief that things could be done differently, and with the courage to support our customers and grow to meet their needs as the market developed.”

“Since the very beginning, we have focused on being flexible – finding solutions for our customers and helping them lower the cost of energy. As projects have become more complex and challenging, we have invested in our training, processes and in systems to meet higher standards for safety, quality and technical expertise,” Petersen continued.

Over the last decade, GWS has expanded its capabilities within onshore and offshore installations and service significantly, the company stated. Key milestones include taking part in the first offshore projects in German and UK waters and installing America’s first offshore wind turbines ever at Block Island in 2016.

GWS pointed out that, despite the company’s global profile, hiring local workforces has always been a priority for the company. “One of the keys to our success is our highly trained employees, who are able to meet the needs of our customers safely and efficiently. We take great pride in hiring talented and dedicated people who can help us grow and develop,” Petersen said.
