Florida-based GFS Corp on Wednesday said it has received an order to convert a fleet of haul trucks to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) at an undisclosed mine in Mexico.

The Komatsu 930E trucks will be equipped with the EVO-MT system which includes onboard LNG storage and vaporization as well as engine controls and safety systems.

The version of the system to be used in the Mexico project will include both a hydraulic/LNG combo tank and the optional diesel/LNG combo tank providing a total of 600 usable gallons of LNG storage capacity, according to GFS Corp.

“We see this new project as additional validation that the use of LNG can have a positive impact on sustainability while reducing production costs for global mining companies,”  said Jason Green, GFS Corp’s President and Chief Technology Officer.
