German Port to Establish LNG Bunkering Center

Business & Finance

German port of Lübeck could soon bunker vessels with liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the port operator Lübecker Hafen-Gesellschaft (LHG) and Lübeck Port Authority (LPA) have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Russian LNG producer LNG Gorskaya to set up a floating storage unit (FSU).

In addition to the FSU, the project would include an LNG bunkering vessel and a truck loading facility.

Namely, the companies plan to build and place the FSU, which will have a capacity of 2,200 tons, by September 1, 2017.

LHG, in coordination with the LPA and the city of Lübeck, will now look for a location where the project could be undertaken without interrupting the operations at the port.
