Gazocean, a French firm specializing in the technical management of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, has selected the Smart Shipping solution developed by Ascenz Marorka, a compatriot GTT Group company, for its six-vessel fleet.

The contract includes access to Ascenz Marorka’s Smart Shipping platform for managing vessel performance and monitoring LNG cargoes, and Fleet Center, aimed at improving route safety and operational efficiency. It also entails the French firm’s Weather Routing service.

Anouar Kiassi, Managing Director of Ascenz Marorka, said: “We are honored to support Gazocean in their digitalization efforts and pursuit of operational excellence. We have always placed great emphasis on the human factor in digital initiatives, which makes this collaboration particularly meaningful. It aims to improve crew working conditions by alleviating their administrative tasks, allowing them to concentrate on essential operations.”

The Smart Shipping platform collects data automatically from onboard sensors across the fleet, which the French solution provider claims will optimize energy efficiency as the data will be used for drafting performance and environmental reports for Gazocean and its shipowner and charterer clients.

According to Ascenz Marorka, automating these reports will reduce the administrative burden on the crew, allowing them to focus on operational tasks. Furthermore, enhanced data quality will help shore-based teams by reducing the time they spend on manual checks and report formatting.

“We are delighted to strengthen our cooperation with the GTT group and to embark on this important project with Ascenz Marorka. Digitalization and innovation are key levers in supporting our operational excellence and achieving both economic and environmental objectives. Through this initiative, we also aim to simplify the daily tasks of our crews and enhance our company’s attractiveness in an increasingly competitive sector,” noted Régis Adnet, Chairman of Gazocean.

Last year, the French firm’s Smart Shipping technology was the digital solution of choice for GasLog and its entire fleet of more than 35 LNG carriers, while China’s Jovo decided to use it on two of its LNG carriers.
