Gallery: Heerema’s Aegir Getting Ready for Lucius and Ichthys

Heerema Marine Contractor’s new Deepwater Construction Vessel Aegir arrived in Rotterdam’s Caland Canal today after a journey of almost two months from the DSME shipyard in Okpo, South Korea where it was built.

The 210m long and 46.2m wide vessel will move to the Huisman yard in Schiedam in April where the pipelay equipment will be installed.

Aegir is scheduled to start work on its first installation project in the Gulf of Mexico in the fourth quarter of 2013. The vessel will be deployed at Anadarko’s Lucius offshore field, where it will be used for installation of the subsea manifolds, production flowlines, production risers, and export risers.

After the Anadarko contract is completed, Aegir will move to Australia. In Australia, HMC will carry out the transportation and installation of infield flowlines, subsea structures and moorings for future FPSO and CPF facilities at INPEX’s Ichthys Offshore Development.

The Dutch company, one of the world’s leading marine contractors for the oil and gas industry, will be utilizing the heavy lift, J-Lay and Reel-Lay capability of its new vessel for the Australian job.

The Aegir, a state-of-the-art monohull vessel with the capability to execute complex deep water infrastructure and pipe line projects in ultra deep water, is based on Ulstein’s SOC 5000 design.
