Business & Finance

Saga Dawn, the 45,000 cbm mid-sized liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier built for Saga LNG Shipping, has been launched at Haimen-based shipbuilder China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI).

Featuring LNT A-BOX, an IMO Type A LNG containment system developed by Norway’s LNG New Technologies (LNT), the ship is the first of two units ordered in late 2015 by the company.

The new LNG carrier will have a length of 193.4 meters and a width of 30 meters and will be able to achieve a speed of 16.9 knots.

The 30,000 gross ton carrier, which features low fuel consumption, high cargo capacity and has a four stroke dual fuel engine, is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2018.

Saga LNG Shipping earlier informed that it aims to build, own and operate a series of small and mid-sized LNG assets, LNG carriers, floating storage units (FSUs), floating storage regasification units (FSRUs), and LNG bunker vessels, targeted at projects currently in various stages of development.
