Gallery: BlueTec tidal platform hits water

Operations & Maintenance

BlueTec floating tidal platform has hit the water today, at the Port of Den Helder, the Netherlands.

The floating platform is now in the water, and the bow section is mounted. The platform is made of three container sized modules.

The first turbine that has been mounted to the platform is Tocardo’s T1 100 kW tidal turbine.

This platform will serve as a demonstration targeted at remote locations, and will be deployed off Texel island, after which it will be connected to the Dutch grid.

The naming ceremony for the BlueTec floating tidal platform was held at the Port of Den Helder on April 9, 2015.

The BlueTec Texel tidal project represents a collaboration of Bluewater, Damen/Niron Staal, Van Oord/Acta Marine, NIOZ, Nylacast, Schottel Hydro, Tidal Testing Centre, TKF, Tocardo and Vryhof Anchors.
