The Licence P2522 operator Shell UK selected Fugro for geophysical and geotechnical site surveys in May this year.

Data collection began on 8 September and was completed on 14 September with demobilisation commencing shortly thereafter, Deltic Energy, Shell’s partner in the project, informed.

The results of the initial phase of the survey will be interpreted and, if required, a second geotechnical phase incorporating the collection of samples from the seabed will be undertaken before the end of the year.

“The completion of the site survey on Pensacola is a key part of the well planning process and represents another important milestone as the Deltic-Shell joint venture continues the preparatory works in advance of drilling”, said Graham Swindells, CEO of Deltic Energy.

“We look forward to progressing through the planning phase as we get closer to drilling this high impact prospect”.

At the end of March, the joint venture partners made a positive well investment decision to drill the high-impact Pensacola Prospect in the UK Southern North Sea next year.
