Dutch geo-data specialist, Fugro, has been awarded a long-term contract to provide construction support to its compatriot Van Oord for offshore wind farms across Europe for three years, with an option to extend.

Under the contract, multiple remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems, construction equipment, personnel, and associated services will be deployed on Van Oord’s vessels Calypso and Subsea Viking.

Fugro will assist with cable-laying, trenching, and survey operations throughout Europe, providing geo-data to inform positioning and construction of the resources to de-risk the projects and optimize future operations.

The ROV spreads provided by the company will be permanently stationed on the vessels for three years, ensuring continuous support.

The latest contract award comes after successful delivery of survey and positioning services, metocean forecasting and studies, UXO surveys, and consultancy support over the years, Fugro said.

In terms of recent news from Fugro, the company was awarded a contract, together with Ocean Infinity, at the beginning of this month to carry out geotechnical investigations at the Doordewind zone, one of the three new areas designated by the Dutch Government in 2022 to increase offshore wind capacity.
