FSRU GDF Cape Ann to Work for CNOOC in Winter

Business & Finance

French electric utility company ENGIE has renewed the regasification and storage services contract with Chinese energy group CNOOC for the coming winter season.

The services will be provided by the FSRU GDF Suez Cape Ann in the Port of Tianjin.

The FSRU arrived in Tianjin fully loaded with LNG and started operations on October 28. The 145,130 cbm vessel will remain in the Chinese port until spring 2018, according to ENGIE.

In addition to the usual FSRU activities, Cape Ann will also transfer LNG into smaller on-shore tanks which are used by CNOOC for LNG trucking activity.

Cape Ann has previously provided similar services to CNOOC from November 2013 to January 2017, as a contribution to both LNG and natural gas supply needs.

Earlier this year, H-Energy inked a deal with ENGIE to charter GDF Suez Cape Ann.

Under the deal, H-Energy is to charter the vessel for a minimum period of 5 years starting from the third quarter of 2018, when the vessel is scheduled to arrive at the LNG regasification project at Jaigarh Port in Maharashtra on the west coast of India.
