The EU-funded FORESEA program has selected three offshore renewable energy projects for support following an interim review of its ongoing fourth call.

The approved projects will see technology developers prove their technologies in real sea conditions in test centers in France and UK.

Technology developers that received support include HACE (Hydro Air Concept Energy) which will be testing its wave energy converter system at SEM-REV, and NEREIS Environnement with SEAc (Acoustic of the Sea) project which will also be conducting trials at the SEM-REV marine renewables test site located off the western coast of France.

The third developer selected for support is Renewable Devices Marine which will be testing its Capricorn Marine Turbine at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, UK.

A final award of support will be secured by the developer upon contract with the test center, FORESEA noted.

FORESEA is an €11 million project which helps to bring offshore renewable energy technologies to market by offering free access to a network of test centers, which includes EMEC (United Kingdom), DMEC (Netherlands), SEM REV (France) and SmartBay (Ireland).

By providing free access to these world-leading test centers, the FORESEA program helps developers drive their technology towards the marketplace.

To remind, FORESEA launched its fourth call for proposals, running until June 29, 2018, to help technology developers from other offshore sectors transition into the renewable energy market.
