FORCE gets busy in the Bay of Fundy

Environment

Fundy Ocean Research Center for Energy (FORCE) and its partners are entering a period of frequent and ongoing activity at locations in the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia.

The activities relate to ongoing environmental monitoring at the site as well as the deployment and operations of the Fundy Advanced Sensor Technology (FAST) Program, FORCE informed.

The FAST Program consists of both onshore and offshore components, including a series of underwater monitoring platforms, which capture marine life, noise level, seabed stability, and currents and turbulence data at the site.

The activities will be conducted at locations including the Parrsboro wharf, West Bay, and the FORCE site in the Minas Passage.

As a result of these activities, vessels, barges, and personnel may enter and exit the Parrsboro wharf from time to time.

Activities may also include crane use, which might cause brief delays in wharf access, FORCE said in an advisory note.
