First Two ERRVs for Vroon Offshore Christened in China

Nanjing East Star Shipbuilding Co., based in China, on Monday hosted a naming ceremony for VOS Fabulous and VOS Fairness, the first two units in a series of six new classed 50m Emergency Response Rescue Vessels (ERRVs), ordered by Vroon Offshore Services in May 2012.

VOS Fabulous was christened by Johan Oostdijk, an Accounting Administrator at Vroon B.V., who is celebrating 40 years of employment with the company this year.

VOS Fairness was christened by Madam Zhang Hongxia, Chief Representative of Golden East Shipping Co. Ltd.

The 50m ERRVs are designed to meet the specific needs of VROON. These vessels are powered by 2x 820 kw main engines driving controllable pitch propellers. They are designed to undertake tasks such as stand-by rescuing for oil platforms, capacity of the rescue being 300 men. All vessels have a revolutionary, wave-piercing bow shape that has been designed exclusively for Vroon.

VOS Fabulous and VOS Fairness will be delivered to Vroon Offshore Services this autumn and will be operational in the North Sea later in the year.
