Finland: Ruukki to Supply Aker Solutions with Suction Anchors and Offshore Steels

Ruukki has signed an agreement with Aker Solutions of Norway to supply 24 suction anchors in September 2010 from its Kalajoki unit in Finland. Ruukki has supplied also offshore steels for the same project.

The suction anchors and offshore steel plates will be used in the Goliat field in the Barents Sea. Suction anchors are used to anchor subsea manifolds to the sea bed. The suction anchors will be 5.5 metres in diameter and about 6.7-9.7 metres in height. They will be installed at water depths up to 400 metres and fixed to the bottom soil by vacuum.

Ruukki has previously delivered suction anchors to Aker Solutions e.g. for the production platform in the Gjøa field.
