Fifth AP LNG Carrier Named in China

LNG carrier Cesi Wenzhou, a joint venture project between COSCO Shipping Energy, Sinopec and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) was named at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China on January 25.

The 174,000 cbm ship is the fifth of six LNG carriers which are part of Australian Pacific LNG (AP LNG) project. It will operate on the route between Australia and China with an annual shipping volume of over one million tons of LNG.

Featuring a length of 290 meters, a width of 45.6 meters and a service speed of 19.5 knots, the newbuilding is said to be one of the first LNG carriers in the world with dual-fuel electric propulsion.

The Hong Kong-flagged vessel currently has a market value of USD 180.15 million, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

COSCO Shipping said Cesi Wenzhou is the 16th LNG ship put into operation by the company. A further 22 ships are under construction and will be delivered by 2020.
