Faroe takes Deepsea Bergen rig for Norwegian ops

Business & Finance

Odfjell Drilling has secured further employment for its rig Deepsea Bergen with Faroe Petroleum in Norway.

The drilling contractor said on Friday that the contract is for one well plus one well option on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

The contract start is back to back with expiry of the current contract with Statoil, expected to start approximately in mid-July 2017.

Deepsea Bergen is a 3rd generation semi-submersible drilling rig of a Aker H-3.2 design. It was built in 1983 by Aker Norway.

The semi-sub underwent the 5-year special periodic survey in 2015 at Aibel’s yard. The yard stay was completed in October 2015 after which the rig left to resume its long-term contract with the Norwegian oil company Statoil.
