Eyemouth Harbor Dredging Works Near Completion

Business & Finance

Dredging operations at the entrance to Eyemouth Harbor are nearing its completion.

This work is being undertaken with the hopper barge MV Sandsend and dredging pontoon Saltwick, the Eyemouth Harbour Trust said in its Notice to Mariners.

A berth in Gunsgreen Basin has been reserved for the dredging vessels, and other boats may be asked to move berth as directed by the harbormaster to enable the dredging operation to proceed.

Eyemouth Harbor is part of the Berwickshire and North Northumberland coast European marine site, so all removal of deposits from the seabed requires a marine licence from either the Marine Management Organisation or Marine Scotland.

Dredging takes place regularly at Eyemouth Harbor and the last such operation was conducted in 2014.

The latest round of dredging works started on Friday, April 22, and will be completed shortly, according to the Trust.
