Exheat to Heat Hazardous Areas at Petronas FLNG

Exheat have been awarded the contract to supply the hazardous area electrical heaters and control solutions for the PETRONAS floating liquefied natural gas facility.

The PETRONAS FLNG will be among the world’s leading FLNG vessels, scheduled for operation in 2015. With a 1.2 million tonnes per annum capacity, it is expected to operate 365 days a year at the Kanowit gas field, converting gas into LNG with production destined for Malaysia and other world areas. This ground breaking facility which possesses a design life of 20 years will enable PETRONAS to monetise its upstream stranded gas assets and eliminates substantial costs required in the provisioning of fixed infrastructure such as subsea pipelines to shore. Furthermore, it allows the Company to leverage on its FLNG experience to explore more opportunities in the LNG industry, regionally and globally.

Kevin Tyrrell, General Manager of Exheat said “Our selection as the supplier of choice to the PETRONAS FLNG project is a key award for Exheat and serves as continued testimony by our clients of our commitment in providing world class, high quality electric heating solutions to meet the most demanding requirements” .

EXHEAT is a globally renowned designer and manufacturer of electric process heating and control systems. Its experience in the design of electric heaters for use in Hazardous Area locations is second to none, offering a complete range of custom-engineered process and immersion heaters, together with a standard product portfolio incorporating immersion heaters, room heaters and thermostats, all of which have extensive IECEx, ATEX, CSA and GOST certification.
