Excelerate Energy bags FSRU charter in Dubai

Texas-based Excelerate Energy has entered into a 10-year charter deal with Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP) to provide and operate an FSRU that will be located at DUSUP’s existing Jebel Ali LNG import terminal.

DUSUP is responsible for supplying energy to a number of key utility and industrial companies in Dubai and has partnered with Excelerate in order to meet the growing demand for natural gas in the Emirate, Excelerate said in a statement.

The FSRU is expected to be in service in April of 2015 to cover the Dry Docking of the existing FSRU at the Jebel Ali terminal.

Provisioned from Excelerate’s existing fleet, the FSRU has 151,000 m3 of LNG storage capacity and will then be specially upgraded in the latter half of 2015 to be capable of a regasification capacity of 800 MMcf/d for service from 2016.
