EWE picks crew transfer provider for German offshore wind farms

Operations & Maintenance

EWE Offshore Service & Solutions (OSS) has awarded Reederei Norden–Frisia with a contract to provide crew transfer services for offshore wind projects in Germany.

The contractor is in charge of providing transport for personnel and material from the base port in Borkum and the Riffgat and Alpha Ventus offshore wind farms, and possibly other projects.

According to the deal, the crew transfer vessel (CTV) must be capable of transporting at least 20 people.

In November 2019, EWE issued a tender seeking a CTV to service the Riffgat, Alpha Ventus, Merkur, Gemini and Trianel Windpark Borkum offshore wind farms, and others.

The Riffgat offshore wind farm, built by EWE in 2013, comprises 30 SWT-3.6-120 Siemens turbines.

Alpha Ventus comprises six Adwen M5000 turbines and six Senvion 5M turbines. It was commissioned in April 2010 and is Germany’s first and oldest operating offshore wind farm.
