ETA bags Wave Hub contract

Business & Finance

ETA, a UK-based subsea cable specialist engineering firm based, has been awarded the contract to supply power joints and dry mate connectors to Wave Hub, a test off Cornwall.

ETA will supply the in-line joints and dry mate connectors key to the planned cable tail installation project for the Wave Hub site, the company informed.

Wave Hub is planning to install four 33 kV rated cable tail extensions from the current dry mate connectors to the four developer berths for wave energy device testing.

Existing 11 kV rated dry mate connectors will be replaced with a 33 kV rated in‐line joint, and terminate the extension cables with half of a 33 kV dry mate connector.

Andrew Thomas, ETA Connect’s Managing Director, said: “We are very excited to be working with Wave Hub. The award of the contract is superb news for ETA and demonstrates that our policy providing a high quality, robust and cost effective solution is what the industry should expect and benefit from.”
