Engie to supply LNG to AES’ Panama project

Project & Tenders

French energy giant Engie on Monday informed it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Gas Natural Atlantico for the supply of LNG to the Costa Norte terminal in the Colon Province, Panama.

Under the binding MoU, Engie will deliver up to 400,000 tons of liquefied natural gas per year over a 10-year period, starting in 2018, it said.

Gas Natural Atlantico and Costa Norte LNG are both Panama units of AES. The two companies are developing an LNG-to-power project at the entrance of the Panama Canal, scheduled for completion in 2018.

The project includes an LNG import terminal with 180,000 cbm storage capacity, which will provide the gas for a 350 MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant.
