Energi Coast Maximises Renewables Energy Potential of North Sea

Energi Coast launched norstec, the new industry and government initiative to maximise the renewables energy potential of the North Sea.

Seven members of the Energi Coast steering group are among the network’s first signatories.

– Deep Ocean

– JDR Cables

– Modus Seabed Intervention

– OGN Group

– TAG Energy Solutions

– TATA Steel

– Technip

Norstec was launched on 4 October by The Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, Ed Davey MP setting out a long-term vision for the deployment of offshore wind in the northern seas and the economic opportunities this presents.

The network will communicate the scale of the opportunity and the benefits of clean energy in Europe’s northern seas to the public and the business and political spheres. Signatories will collaborate and share information to ensure that the benefits offered by vast clean energy potential in the Northern Seas are fully realised.

Alex Dawson, Chairman of Energi Coast, said: “norstec brings together key players who recognise the enormous opportunity offered by the North Sea. We are proud to have a number of Energi Coast companies among the first companies to join this initiative and representatives of the UK’s offshore renewables supply chain within the network.

“This is a critical time for the industry and this new initiative demonstrates the collaborative attitude that exists in the industry to get the maximum benefit from the resource the North Sea offers. It has tremendous potential to deliver hundreds of gigawatts capacity for secure, clean, renewable power, which will in turn create and sustain thousands of jobs.”
