EMGS said on Friday that Christiaan Vermeijden decided to resign from his position as CEO due to personal reasons.

Vermeijden will step down as CEO on December 31, 2018. He held the position of CEO since February 2016 but was named back in November 2015.

He joined EMGS from the position of global offshore geotechnical director of Fugro, where he was part of the executive management team. Vermeijden worked for Fugro since 2000 in several management positions around the world.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Physical Geography from the University of Amsterdam and a Master in Business Administration from the Rotterdam School of Management.

Eystein Eriksrud, chairman of the EMGS board of directors, said: “We regret that Christiaan Vermeijden has resigned, but we respect his decision. On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to thank him for his dedication to EMGS and wish him all the best in the future.”

Regarding his decision, Vermeijden said: “I regret that I leave EMGS due to personal reasons. I experienced EMGS as a wonderful and exciting company to work for, and I wish the board, the management team, and all employees lots of success in the future.”

The company added that a replacement for the CEO would be announced at a later stage.

This is a third CEO resignation in the past week. Fugro CEO Øystein Løseth decided to resign per the end of 2018 while BW Group CEO Carsten Mortensen resigned from the company effective immediately, both citing personal reasons as their reason for resigning.
