Ekofisk to Remain on Stream Far Longer than Initially Planned

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS has received consent to use the Ekofisk 2/4 Z facility on the Ekofisk field.

The Ekofisk field in the Norwegian part of the North Sea will remain in production far longer than originally planned when the field was first put into production in 1970. This has created a need for a new production facility, Ekofisk 2/4 Z.

Ekofisk 2/4 Z is a wellhead facility which will be connected by a gangway to the Ekofisk Complex, where the wellstream will be processed. This new facility is designed for a working life of 40 years.

ConocoPhillips, the operator at Ekofisk, is planning 36 wells for the facility. The wells are to be drilled using a jack-up facility that will be installed adjacent to the wellhead facility during the drilling phase. ConocoPhillips will apply for separate consent for use of the drilling facility before drilling starts.
