Eirik Raude leaves Africa for Falkland Islands

Eirik Raude semi-submersible drilling rig has begun its mobilization to the North Falkland Basin from West Africa.

The rig is currently anticipated to be on hire in the North Falkland Basin in the first week of March when it will start the 6 well 2015 Falklands drilling campaign.

The drilling campaign will be operated by Premier Oil and Noble Energy. The  first well will be drilled on the Premier operated, Zebedee well which will test the southern lobe of the Sea Lion field. The Isobel Deep well, also located in the North Falklands Basin will be the second well in the program.

According to Rockhopper, which holds 24% in Zebedee, the drilling order is still being finalized but the companies are considering a modification to the drilling order that would result in all 4 North Falkland Basin wells being drilled consecutively before the rig moves to the Southern Basin.
