Ecorys, Fraunhofer IWES studying wave & tidal resources

Research & Development

Consultancy company Ecorys, in collaboration with Fraunhofer IWES, has been appointed by the European Commission DG Research and Innovation, to research the possibilities for the development of future wave and tidal energy resources.

As part of the project, the companies will do fieldwork in countries where tidal and wave energy is currently developing, such as the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland.

They will carry out an extensive survey on lessons from ocean energy development, barriers for sharing knowledge and sectorial cooperation, and good practices in both ocean energy development and other relevant sectors.

The aim of the project is to form an objective and evidence-based foundation for shaping the best future pathway for ocean energy development. The results of the research will be used as an important input for steering Research and Innovation investments in the ocean energy sector, Ecorys said.
