The 63,500 dwt Nautical Elisabeth has been renamed the M/V Santos Eagle.

The 2015-built, high specification scrubber-fitted SDARI-64 Ultramax vessel was built by China’s Jiangsu New Hantong Ship Heavy Industry.

Earlier in 2019, the company acquired the six scrubber-fitted Ultramaxes as part of its strategy to renew and grow its fleet. The additions are expected to increase Eagle Bulk’s leverage to the opportunities the IMO 2020 will present, the company explained.

The first two bulkers, Dublin Eagle and Sydney Eagle, were handed over to the company in September 2019. In early October, Eagle Bulk Shipping said that the third unit from the batch, the Copenhagen Eagle, joined the fleet.

Once the three remaining two vessels are delivered, the company’s fleet will total 50 ships, including 20 Ultramax drybulk vessels acquired over the last 36 months.
