Mercur Solutions AS, SMV Hydraulic AS, Harstad Mekaniske AS and Harstad Elektro AS have all received ISO 9001 certification. This is an ISO standard for quality management and a particularly good tool for quality assurance of production and for seeking to prevent errors.

On Thursday 15 May, DNV GL presented the four new companies with their certificates in a presentation ceremony held at the premises of Det norske oljeselskap in Harstad. Together with Arcos AS, Det norske has since 2009 cooperated to qualify new suppliers to the oil and gas industry in North Norway.

The close cooperation between Det norske, Arcos and the North Norwegian supplier industry has yielded very good results. Since the start-up, 20 companies have been qualified as suppliers, achieving Achilles registration and/or receiving ISO 9001 and ISO 1401 certification. Through its involvement with this part of the country, Det norske has contributed with resources, ensuring that suppliers in North Norway today are at the top of the class with regard to certification within health, environment, safety and quality assurance. Det norske is confident that this will prove beneficial in the future, as the Barents Sea is a key component of its strategy, both with regard to present ownership interests and the important access to new acreage in future licensing rounds.

“First of all, I’d like to congratulate the four companies on receiving their ISO certification. This is important to North Norway, to the North Norwegian supplier industry, and to the oil industry. With regard to increasing competence, good cooperation with the supplier industry is essential if our industry is to succeed in utilising the potential of the North,” says Terje Solheim, Head of Det norske’s Harstad office.
