Denmark: Energinet.dk Seeks Subsea Cabling Services

Energinet.dk is calling for expression of interest for the supply and installation of the Kriegers Flak subsea cabling.

Suppliers of electrical substations, especially direct current systems, and high voltage cables have long delivery times. That is why Energinet.dk is out early to ensure deliveries of technical installations, which will form the grid connection for 600 MW of offshore wind turbines at Kriegers Flak.

“We are required to be ready with power supply 1st July 2018, when the first offshore wind turbines are scheduled to start producing power,” said Project Manager Jens Christian Hygebjerg, when three bidders shortlisted for the substation work were named. “Therefore, we need to place orders on the most advanced and preferred components well in advance.”

Interested parties can apply for two lots. Lot 1 comprises the supply and installation of 320 kV HVDC submarine cables, involving two Extruded or MIND single core cables and one armored fiber optic cable. The cable should be 80 km long with additional 2 km for field joints, which are kept to a minimum. The transferred power should reach a minimum of 600 MW. The contract for this lot also includes the supply of transition joints and submarine repair joints, installation of hang-off on a platform and other accessories, as well as transport and laying of the supplied submarine cables.

Under Lot 1, Energinet.dk also requires a 320 kV HVDC underground cables: two Extruded or MIND single core cables, around 6 km long with 0,5 km in spare length. This also includes the supply of joints and terminations, and supervision of cable pulling, sheath tests, jointing and termination works.

Lot 2 relates to the supply and installation of a 150 kV HVAC 3-core subsea cable, around 10 km long with 500 m of spare length (no field joints are allowed) and submarine repair joints. The transferred power should amount to 200 MW. The work for this lot includes installation of a hang-off on a platform and other accessories, as well as transport and laying of the supplied submarine cables.

This lot also envisages the supply and installation of a 150 kV HVAC platform connection, which will comprise six single core lead sheathed cables, measuring 100 m in length and an additional 100 m. The work scope also entails the supply of HIS terminations and their installation on a platform.
