DECC: Wave and tidal generation down 52 percent
UK Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) has released the annual energy statistics report for 2014.
Electricity generated in 2014 fell by 6.7 percent, from 359.2 TWh a year earlier to 335.0 TWh.
Renewable electricity generation was 64.4 TW/h in 2014, an increase of 20 percent on the 53.7 TW/h in 2013.
Renewables’ share of electricity generation was a record 19.2 percent in 2014, an increase of 4.3 percentage points on the 14.9 percent in 2013.
Renewable electricity capacity was 24.2 GW at the end of 2014, a 23 percent increase (4.5 GW) on a year earlier.
The cumulative installed capacity for the wave and tidal was 9 MW in 2014, which represents an increase of 23.3 percent compared to 2013, when the installed capacity was 7 MW.
Electricity generation from wave and tidal fell 52 percent, from 6 GW/h in 2013 to 3 GW/h in 2014.
