The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult has appointed Huub den Rooijen, the Director of Energy, Minerals and Infrastructure at The Crown Estate, to its Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Den Rooijen will join ORE Catapult on 1 July, succeeding Andrew Mill, who will leave the Board at the end of the year, following a six-month period for continuity.

“Huub brings extensive experience across all areas of the energy market, and in exploiting the UK’s extensive renewable energy resources in particular. He will bring invaluable insight to ORE Catapult’s Board, as we strive to deliver ambitious plans to seize the UK’s huge opportunity from offshore wind, wave and tidal energy,” ORE Catapult Chairman Colin Hood said.

“Andrew Mill has provided invaluable service to ORE Catapult, both as a Board member and as Chief Executive of Narec previously, and we are grateful for his considerable contribution towards developing the business into the highly effective innovation leader that it is today. We will continue to work closely with Andrew in his role as Chairman of EMEC.”

Den Rooijen joined The Crown Estate in 2012 as Head of Offshore Wind and was appointed as Director of Energy, Minerals and Infrastructure in November 2015.

He has previously worked in the renewables sector with Shell Renewables since the late nineties, where he was responsible for its first offshore wind projects. He was Director for the Shell joint venture that developed the first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands, and thereafter worked with UK consultants PMSS.
