Crown Estate sets up free Turbulence Workshop

Research & Development

The workshop comprises of group sessions on turbulence for energy resource assessment, engineering design, and array design, including field data requirements, at tidal energy sites.

Objective of the workshop is to engage discussion from industry professionals in considering formulation of industry guidance on turbulence and to determine future requirements for further research.

The workshop is aimed at energy site developers, device manufacturers, engineers, regulators, and consultants.

The workshop consists of three groups: Turbulence for Resource Assessment, Turbulence for Engineering and Turbulence Yield for Arrays, and participants are invited to choose the group they want to be involved in.

An update on industry research projects including TiME (Turbulence in Marine Environments), ReDAPT (Reliable Data Acquisition Platform for Tidal), PerAWaT (Performance Assessment of Wave and Tidal Array Systems), and Marine Energy Yield Uncertainty will be offered.

The workshop will be held on February 25, 2015 at EICC as pre-event to Renewable UK 2015 Wave and Tidal Conference.
