Brodosplit-Diesel Engine Factory Installs Main Engine on Hull 470

On January 24th 2012, in Brodosplit-Diesel Engine Factory, installation of the main engine of Hull 470 was performed on the bench. It is a ship size handy bulk carrier for the transport of bulk cargo, with capacity of 52.000 dwt and contracted for domestic shipping company from Split Jadroplov.

Bulk carrier has the same dimensions of the MV ”Peristil” and MV ”Sveti Dujam” which are built and delivered to the domestic shipping company in 2010. By applying the new regulations, main engine is changed, so the Newbuilding will have better features – she will achieve lower fuel consumption and lower pollution.

Engine was built under licence of MAN B&W Diesel, type 6S60MC-8.2 with M(aximum)C(ontinious)R(ating) of 7500 kW at 110 r/min. Engine performance was optimised on 85% of MCR i.e. 6375 kW at 104,2 r/min. A fuel oil consumption at optimised point is 166,4 g/kWh, meaning more than 24,5 tons of fuel oil per day.

The ship will have a dual class, and its construction is supervised by Classification societies Bureau Veritas and Croatian Registry of Shipping.
