Coastal Communities Fund opens Welsh round five

Authorities & Government

The Coastal Communities Fund (CCF) has opened the fifth round of funding for projects that will support the economic development of coastal communities in Wales.

Funding of between £50,000 and £300,000 is available for projects that promote sustainable economic growth and jobs in Wales.

The deadline for stage one applicants has been set for March 12, 2018, while all projects to be funded under this round should be completed by March 2021, according to CCF.

Since the start of the CCF in 2012, the program has awarded grants to 277 organisations across the UK to the value of £170 million. This funding is forecast to deliver over 16,000 jobs and help attract over £316 million of additional funds to coastal areas, CCF informed.

To remind, CCF has in 2017 provided funding support to Marine Energy Wales for the Marine Energy Test Area (META) project.

The project aims to create pre-consented testing areas in the Milford Haven Waterway for technology developers to deploy non-grid connected devices, test components and deployment techniques, as well as providing the opportunity for research.

The CCF is delivered by Big Lottery Fund on behalf of the UK government and the devolved administrations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
