CMR to supply CCTV for two new accommodation units

CMR Group, a marine automation and instrumentation specialists, has secured the first order from Kongsberg Maritime to supply new CCTV systems for new semi-submersible heavy lift, construction, and accommodation vessels.

CMR said on Monday that the deal was for an undisclosed amount and includes spare parts and maintenance support.

The deal entails the supply and installation of CCTV systems for the SSCVs named OOS Serooskerke and OOS Walcheren which are being built by the China Merchants Heavy Industry.

The CMR system, which will be delivered to CMHI in Shanghai, is part of contract work being undertaken by Kongsberg to supply and integrate all the vessels’ electrical, telecommunications and integrated control systems.

Housed within IP rated, stainless steel enclosure housings, the CCTV systems will monitor hazardous areas and other critical components and machinery and will be designed and built to withstand the harsh and demanding operational conditions of the marine and offshore environment.

CMR added that more than 140 cameras were being supplied as part of the deal, which would make it one of the largest CCTV systems of its type.

The first vessel is planned for launch in Korea in 2018 with the second one set to follow at the beginning of 2019.

To remind, dutch provider of offshore accommodation solutions, Holding OOS International Group B.V., ordered the two SSCVs from CMHI in August 2016. The Chinese company held a keel laying ceremony for the OOS Serooskerke back in December 2017.

Regarding the deal between Kongsberg and CMHI, the EPC contracts awarded by the Chinese company is worth more than NOK 520 million ($67.4M at current rates).
