Business & Finance

BW Gas is the shipowner that ordered two liquified natural gas (LNG) carriers last week at South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), according to Clarksons Platou Shipbroking.

The two 173,400 cbm LNG carriers are set for delivery in the first half of 2020 from DSME’s Okpo yard.

The shipowner is paying KRW 394.1 billion (around USD 362.5 million) for the new carriers, the shipbuilder said in a regulatory filing.

The order is DSME’s first newbuilding contract this year.

BW Gas, part of the BW Group, has a fleet of over 150 vessels, including crude oil supertankers, refined oil tankers, LNG and LPG carriers, chemical tankers and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units.
