China Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd and NYK End West Africa Express

Business & Finance

China Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd and NYK will put a stop to their mid-2011 initiated joint Far East-West Africa Express (WAX), Dynamar reports.

The Chinese carrier will henceforth co-operate with PIL in the latter’s SW2 link, while the Germans have opted for slots on Gold Star’s Asia-West Africa service.

The plans of the Japanese partner are yet unknown; it previously co-operated with NileDutch.

The revised itinerary of the upgraded SW2, which will employ five 4,000 TEU ships from China Shipping and seven from PIL, will become: Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Shenzhen (Shekou), Guangzhou (Nansha), Singapore, Lomé, Lagos (Tin Can), Tema, Abidjan, Colombo, Port Kelang, Singapore and back to Shanghai.
