China Exports Submarine Cables to European and American Markets for First Time

Business & Finance

Chinese photoelectric cable producer for the first time exported its submarine fiber optic cables to the European and American marketplace.

Production of these hi-tech products has been dominated for a long time by a few corporations in France, the United States and Japan, explained Zhongtian Technology Group’s chairman Xue Jiping.

He said that his company spent hundreds of millions of yuan to solve many technical issues put forth by the international customers in the production of submarine fiber optic cables.

An Alaskan and Italian telecommunication firm purchased the cables, Xue said.

The total length of the exported cables achieved more than 230 km with a cost of more than 40 million U.S. dollars, he added.
