Container Vessel MALIK AL ASHTAR Redelivered

Recently, Lingang Shipbuilding & Shiprepairing Base successfully completed all repair works for the vessel “MALIK AL ASHTAR”, the vessel was repaired in company’s dry-dock No.2. United Arab Emirates container vessel “MALIK AL ASHTAR” successfully docked at the shipyard’s dry dock No.2 on April 1st 2012 and was the longest vessel to enter dock in China.

The main scope of work for “MALIK AL ASHTAR” included high pressure water washing under waterline with pressure above 80Mpa, applying silicon antifouling paint (HEMPASIL);white corundum blasting for propeller, and carrying out special painting. The area of special painting was 22000m2 in total. The shipyard strictly followed the painting technical requirement, deeply learned the inspection standard of coating system, carefully examined the cleanness/roughness, dust and oil dirt of steel plate surface, confirmed dryness time according to atmosphere humidity, communicated with owner and paint supplier in time and successfully fulfilled special paint to large area for the first time.

The smooth completion of M/V “MALIK AL ASHTAR”, not only indicated beginning of “large vessel” repairing in the shipyard, but also accumulated experiences for special painting and “larger vessel” docking, established base for undertaking similarity works in the future.

The main particulars of “MALIK AL ASHTAR” are 366m in length, 48.2m in breadth, 29.8m in depth, 15.5m in draft, 13500 TEU & 141077 DWT.

Class surveyor accepted all special painting works that were done on the vessel.
