China: CIC Changying Completes XIN NING YANG Repairs

On November 29th, 2012, accompanied with a lasting whistling, MT XIN NING YANG slowly sailed away from the CIC CHANGXING SHIPYARD with a sound completion to the repair.

MT XIN NING YANG, an VLCC with LOA of 330M and LOB of 60M, owned by China Shipping, arrived at the shipyard for repair on November 14th, 2012.

As soon as the vessel was moored, the workshop dispatched the workers onboard for close inspection and started the repairs under the well-planned organization by SRM and supervisors. The main items for repair included gangway, mooring winches and anchor windlasses, piping cleaning and renewal, fabrication of new sewage tank, anti-pirates modifications etc.

A lot of intersectant and conflictable items dragged the repair pace with much inconvenience. In repairing the big end of the connecting rod for ME, the subcontractor team Wuzhen properly organized its manpower, performed the job elaboratively, checked the mesuring readings prudently, surmounted various difficulties through a continuous overtime job, and managed to complete the job in advance. Docking items were well prepared for. Only 79 hours in total took to sandblast the hull, apply 4 coats of paint and replace the tailshaft seals, which laid solid foundation for the on-time completion of the whole project.

All the outstanding jobs were completed on November 28th, and obtained the owner’s acceptance at their first time of being tested.
