China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Completes MV SEA AARYAN Project

CIC Changxing Shipyard completed a sound project for MV Sea Aaryan, which is an offshore accommodation barge. The said barge, owned by an Indian company, is in LOA of 113.08 M and LOB of 28.5M. The main work scope was that the accommodation for 96 persons within 6 days, constituted by 24 containers evenly distributed on 3 floors was newly added.

Each container with a separate bathing room can accommodate 4 persons, around 1000M piping was galvanized, installed for the project and tested, and accessory jobs such as handrails and ladders were newly installed as well. Additionally a new crane was installed onboard and its deck area was also reinforced. The butt welding of 50mm thick AH36 steel plate passed inspection in one time, which won the praise of the class surveyors and the recognition of the ship owner.

The Production Department of Changxing Shipyard made extraordinary arrangements and accurate plans, coordinated all the production divisions closely, well organized the labors, and surmounted various difficulties. The divisions’ leaders, SRM, Business Representatives, foremen and the labor teams managed to provide the owner with a sound repair in terms of safety, quality, work period and service. In the final, the repair was completed ahead of the original plan.

In ship owner’s feedback, he gave good comments to express his satisfaction with the repair and conveyed his hope for next opportunity of cooperation with Changxing Shipyard.
