Business & Finance

Naval Energies will officially launch the construction of a purpose-built tidal turbine assembly facility at Cherbourg Port in two days.

The construction launch ceremony will take place on July 21, 2017, Naval Energies informed.

The 5,500 m2 facility will act as an industrial hub for the delivery of the 14MW Normandie Hydro project for EDF Energies Nouvelles, comprising an array of 7 OpenHydro’s tidal turbines.

The facility will initially have a production capacity of 25 turbines annually, with planned expansion work on the factory expected to increase production by up to 50 turbines per year.

It will be built on 25 hectares of the Associated Normandy Ports-owned property.
