Cherbourg port works to begin mid-March

Authorities & Government

The Cherbourg port extension works will begin mid-March, and are expected to continue for the following 18 months.

The port is being expanded in order to accommodate the tidal sector infrastructure, in anticipation of the construction of pilot tidal farm at Raz Blanchard, which is in close proximity to the Cherbourg Port.

PNA (Ports of Normandy Authority) has decided to increase the area available in the harbor by 39 hectares.

Sodraco, a subsidiary of the Belgian dredging group Jan de Nul, will start the dredging works for the construction of the dike in the Cherbourg port in the upcoming weeks, PNA’s press release reads.
