Cheniere’s Corpus Christi liquefaction project located on the U.S. Gulf Coast has reached 72.4 percent completion.

According to the Houston-based LNG player’s monthly report, the engineering has reached 100 percent completion, procurement reached 89.4 percent, while subcontract and direct hire construction work reached 49.4 percent and 49.2 percent completion, respectively.

Cheniere noted that the jobsite was closed from August 24 to September 10, due to the Hurricane Harvey, with construction resuming with permanent plant concrete, structural steel, aboveground pipe, electrical and equipment installation.

Earlier this month, Cheniere made a decision to switch the planned two large-scale liquefaction trains of the project for seven mid-scale trains.

The change would increase the planned output from 9 million tons per annum to 9.5 mtpa with electric instead of compressor engines to be used for the proposed compressor modifications.

With the change, the project would have an aggregate nominal capacity of 23 mtpa.

Cheniere noted in its monthly filing to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that activities planned for the month of October 2017 are on track.
