Construction of the Nigerian Lekki Deep Sea Port has reached 66 pct completion, local media reports.

According to the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Du Ruogang, China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) is working round the clock to ensure its timely completion and to deliver a world-class port that would be the deepest port in Sub-Saharan African region.

Our primary focus is to continue to make progress on the construction of the port as well as make preparations for the commencement of port operations. We are happy to report that we are at 66 per cent completion, and efforts will be intensified to meet our deadlines,” said Rougang.

The Chief Technical Officer, Lekki Port, Mr. Steven Heukelom, said that dredging and land reclamation operations are 75.75 pct complete so far.

Quay wall and breakwater works are at 69.96 pct and 72.92 pct, while the landside infrastructure development is at 45 pct completion.
