Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines said the LNG carrier CESI Beihai, ordered by a joint venture of MOL, China COSCO Shipping and Sinopec was delivered at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai.

The CESI Beihai is the third vessel to serve the China FOB transportation project, that will see six LNG carriers built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding to serve Sinopec’s free on board (FOB) sale and purchase agreement with Australia Pacific LNG.

China’s Sinopec has booked 7.6 million tons of LNG per year from the APLNG project, where it holds a 25 percent stake.

The vessel has the capacity to transport 174,000-cbm of liquefied natural gas (LNG), featuring a dual fuel diesel electric (DFDE) main engine.

The first vessel, the CESI Gladstone, was delivered in October 2016, and the second, the CESI Qingdao, in January of this year.

The remaining three vessels are scheduled for delivery during 2018, MOL said.
